Community Round Up August 2

Jefferson County:

* Send off summer in style and go to the final Labor Day Sidewalk Sale of the year! Extended hours 9am to 9pm Friday, Saturday and Monday. Sunday: 10am to 7pm. At Johnson Creek Premium Outlets from Sept.. 2-5.

*Spend the afternoon at the Hoard Historical Museum for a FREE concert on the lawn and gardens! Bring your blanket, lawn chair, and friends for a family-friendly show. Enjoy music by the Krause Family Band featuring folk/Americana/gospel music on Sept.. 3 from 3-5pm in Fort Atkinson.

Sheboygan County:

*Come enjoy the Sheboygan County Fair at the Sheboygan County Fair Park from Sept. 2-5! The fair offers a large variety of attractions including animal and non-animal exhibits, fair food, carnival rides and games, free family shows daily. Plenty of fun for everyone!!

*The Plymouth Arts Center is holding a Critters art exhibit for FREE on Sept. 2-4! 73 original pieces of art from 14 Wisconsin artists depicting critters that may be small and squiggly, warm and cuddly, imaginary or familiar, domestic or wild. Viewers will be treated to a wide variety of media including sculpture, paintings, woodcuts, stoneware, fiber, prints and mixed media.

Ozaukee County:

*Enjoy the 11th Annual Paramount Music Festival held at the Coal Dock Park in Port Washington from Sept. 2-4. Beautiful views and in walking distance to downtown Port Washington with all its shops and restaurants and of course the marina. Come to the festival and enjoy the music and the city!

*Bring the family out for a Monarch butterfly exhibit at Puckett’s Pond in Harrington Beach State Park in the Town of Belgium at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3.

Kenosha County:

* Goodbye, summer. Hello, shopping! Cooler temperatures signal the start of the trendiest season of the year — fall. To celebrate, Pleasant Prairie Premium Outlets is hosting one of its most popular sales of the year, the End of Summer Sidewalk Sale. Sept. 2-5 in Pleasant Prairie!

*Cheese lover? Attend the 3rd Annual Cheese-A-Palooza at Harborpark in Kenosha from Sept. 3-4! Featuring great food, live entertainment, plus many other fun activities, including competitive food eating competitions.

Waukesha County:

*The skirl of the pipes… the mighty strength of the athletes… the leaping grace of the dancers… the Wisconsin Highland Games are back, Sept. 2-4 at the Waukesha Expo Center! Explore your family history, hurl a battle axe, check out the kilts, play with the dogs, or have a pint at the pub with some authentic Celtic music!

*Come enjoy Escape from Alcatraz on Mukwonago Community Library’s giant screen and hi-def projector on Sept. 2 at 2 p.m. There will be popcorn! Everyone is invited to this FREE weekly event.

Walworth County:

*Don’t miss out on the Walworth County Fair! “Red, White & Blue, this Fair’s for You!” on Sept. 2-5 at the Walworth County Fairgrounds in Elkhorn. Filled with amazing Junior and Open Class exhibits, agricultural, historical educational features, amazing grandstand entertainment, and absolutely astounding carnival midway, a bountiful selection of scrumptious foods and refreshing drinks and much, much more!

*Roll up those sleeves and celebrate Labor Day with fun family activities associated with work on the farms, homes and shops of 19th-century Wisconsin. After your labors are finished, enjoy a picnic lunch and period games in the village grove. History at Work at Old World Wisconsin in Eagle on Sept. 3.

Racine County:

*Time to celebrate First Fridays in Downtown Racine! Sept. 2 Downtown Racine is THE place to be on First Fridays April through December from 4 to 9 p.m.! Join the fun and see your friends.  Food, beverage specials, LIVE music and special events.

*Get ready for family fun! The LAST FREE Water-ski show presented by the Browns Lake Aquaducks at Fischer Park, Highway 11, Burlington. Junior shows starts at 5:00 p.m.; main show at 6:30 p.m.

Milwaukee County:

*Get ready to learn and be grossed out! Family Nature Hike: Slime Trails edition! Free on Sept. 3 at Havenwoods State Forest in Milwaukee. Slugs, snails, and worms. Slimy, gross, and kind of cool. We’ll seek them out in dark, moist places, let them slime across our hands, and learn about their hidden habits. Spend an hour with a naturalist on a family-friends hike.

*Hop onto Downtown Milwaukee’s summer trolley service, the Milwaukee Trolley Loop presented by VISIT Milwaukee, returns this season, connecting passengers to downtown’s favorite hotspots. The 30-stop route costs just $1 to board and serves East Town, Westown, Water Street, Old World Third Street and Historic Third Ward. Both out-of-town guests and residents can board the “Hop ‘n Shop, Wine ‘n Dine” route to be on the fast track to museums, shops, festivals and other downtown events.
